Hello there! My name is Katie and I am a wildlife conservationist!
Thank you for visiting my blog- super excited to have you along for the journey!
I live, breathe and sleep wildlife! I work for a wildlife charity as a ranger for a nature reserve in the UK and I adore my job. My days include mostly habitat management and projects , working with volunteers and the public, running wildlife events and generally taking care of all the wildlife we have on the reserve.
I have a BSc in Zoology and I am currently studying a MSC in Wildlife Conservation which is so much fun. I have been doing this masters part-time over the last 2 years. Now is the time for dissertation prep! Mine is on terrestrial microplastics.. or it was until I couldn't collect my data due to lockdown. So for now all the plans are up in the air...
I think one of the biggest things you need to know about me is I am Bat mad! I love love love bats, they are my favourite thing ever to exist, so no doubt I will be posting about these bad boys ALOT. Before lock down I was about to start my bat carer training with my local bat group. This is obviously on pause at the moment, but FO SHOOO I will share with you all once I get some rescued bats in my care!
This month, I was due to be travelling with my university to the island of Borneo to do some work with Orangutans and palm oil plantations. Again, this is on hold! But I assure you, once we are all free again, I will be on that plane to those ginger beauties in a flash!
I wanted to start this blog to reach out to everyone! Fellow conservationists, naturalists, wildlife lovers alike, everyone and anyone who enjoys nature. Hello you lovely lot! In the times we are currently in, community spirit is more important than ever and I wanted to be brave, try something new and put myself out there... so here we are!
'Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, same as so many other people, my travel , training and research plans have been drawn to a halt. As we do not know how long this will go on for- most of the exciting bits I wanted to share with you all are on pause for the moment (as we are all stuck indoors, saving lives and protecting the NHS!) So, instead I have a whole new content list for the time being which I hope you enjoy!'
So please keep an eye ball out for the next blog posts and for more stories tune in to my social media on:
